I love performing or playing under pressure – Nadine de Klerk
Nadine de Klerk has been a fan favourite so far for RCB with a string of scintillating performances. With 15 wickets from eight games, she is one of the leading contenders to win the Purple Cap. She has also scored 126 runs from the five innings that she has batted in, with an unbeaten 63 being her best that came against Mumbai Indians in the season opener.
Talking to Mayanti Langer on Big Basket presents RCB Podcast, Nadine de Klerk opened up on how she thrives under the pump and how challenges get her going. She also revealed how having a very competitive family has been a massive boon, honing her as one of the finest hard-hitters of the game in the women’s circuit.
Nadine said, “Yeah, I love performing or playing under pressure for some reason. So I actually like when I walk in and you need 12 and over, you need to be the player to get over the line, or I'm not sure what's really behind it or how it ended up being that where I guess it's my type of personality. I really like a challenge and I want to be the person that walks in in tough situations or get the ball.”
Linking her childhood and how being a part of a competitive family has helped her immensely, Nadine further added, “And I think that's just probably from growing up, really. We've always had a very competitive family and always wanted to be the best since I can basically remember. So that's really helped me in my international career as well, wherever I've been, it's just the mindset to really never give up and always wanting to win and wanting to be the best and also knowing that it's not always gonna happen. Cricket is a funny game, so that's why it is funny that way.”
