Virat Kohli hammered an impeccable showdown in the series opener, battering a phenomenal century albeit that innings showing a couple of blemishes. However, the entire narrative was different at the Greenfield Stadium as he stitched together an immaculate knock and led the charge for the Men in Blue emphatically in the final ODI.

He pressed hard on the accelerator in the second half of the innings once he crossed the magical three figure mark. With boundaries raining left, right and center, Sri Lanka fumbled in the dark, desperate for some cover while Virat Kohli imposed himself even further upon his Lankan counterparts.

With 279 runs from just 3 games in the recently concluded series, Kohli was awarded the Player of the Series and also the Player of the Match for his blistering 166* in the series finale. Talking at the post-match presentation, Virat opened up on how these awards are special to him and what the outing in the series finale meant to the RCB opener.

Talking on the awards received, Virat said, “It is the by-product of the intent I have. Mindset is to help the team, and put the team in strong position. I have played for the right reasons and that has helped. Ever since I came back from the break, I am feeling good and I don't have desperation to get to a milestone. I want to continue doing that and am content.”

He then shifted his focus to the final rubber of the fray, adding, “Today I was happy to be batting out there and, in that space, I end up playing good cricket. I am in a nice space right now, just be organic.”

Kohli concluded by talking about the collaborative brilliance of his RCB teammate, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami, the duo that wrecked the Sri Lankan batting. Virat said, “Shami has always been there for us with the new ball. But the way Siraj has come in and done with the new ball has been fantastic. He picks wickets in the powerplay, which was an issue in the past. It is a great sign for us heading into the World Cup."
