He is in a better space now: R Sridhar praises Virat Kohli

Sunday marked another reason why Virat Kohli is in unstoppable form at the moment where he is all set to tame giants in the shortest format of the game. Not only has he been exceptional with the bat but the run-out of Cameron Green in the second T20I and that long-running attempt from long-on to long-off to pouch a diving effort in the series decider has simply been a blazing ode to his electric fielding.

Pundits across the globe have reasons to believe that this newer version of Virat Kohli is almost unstoppable and the hunger in his eyes is another reason to believe that he is going to make waves this time.

Former Indian fielding coach, R Sridhar believes that the timely return of Virat Kohli to form augurs well for the Indian contingent. He asserted that Kohli not just looks better with the bat, but there has been a shift in his entire body language and this is exactly what is going to make him a lot more ferocious for the upcoming showpiece extravaganza.

Talking to Cricket.Com, Sridhar said, “He is in a better space now. Like he admitted himself, he was probably not in the right frame of mind and now has got it in the right place. The break has done him wonders; the time spent with his family has done him wonders. And we saw what he could do right in the first game against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.”

He further added, “After seeing him bat from ringside in Hyderabad, you can well and truly say that the king is back. Great mindset. He is fielding like a panther and his batting is brilliant. All in all, it augurs extremely well for Indian cricket going into the World Cup.”

Kohli is a part of the Indian squad that will be taking on South Africa for three T20Is and three ODIs starting today at the Greenfield International Stadium in Kerala. This would also mark the final chapter of India’s preparations ahead of the T20 World Cup in October.
