He has power, bat speed and all the things a modern white ball player needs: Naseer Hussain heaps praise on Suryakumar Yadav
Team India will be taking the yard against England in the upcoming semi-final of the T20 World Cup at Adelaide after a successful Super 12 campaign where they bettered the likes of Pakistan, Netherlands, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh to qualify for the semis.
Former England skipper, Naseer Hussain issued a stringent warning for Jos Buttler and company about a particular Indian batter who has so far wreaked havoc. He talked at length about India’s middle-order maven, Suryakumar Yadav as the latter continues to impress with his heavy hitting.
He is currently the third highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup with 225 runs at a staggering strike rate of 193. 96. Out of the five innings that he has played so far, he has stitched three half-centuries, leading the Indian middle-order by example.
Talking about Suryakumar Yadav in his column for the Daily Mail, Naseer said, “SKY is a freakish talent. The term ‘a 360 degree player’ can be overused, but it is true in his case. He hits balls from outside off-stump over deep square leg for six."
The erstwhile English captain further added, “He has wrists and levers that strike the ball in incredibly unusual areas. And he has power, bat speed and all the things a modern white ball player needs.”
Surya was once again instrumental against Zimbabwe with a 25-ball-61. SKY bagged his maiden T20I century against England back in the latter’s backyard the last time the two teams met in a T20I game. He would be hopeful of continuing his outrageous form in the showpiece event as two massive games loom.
