“He has got a lot of heart” - Jasprit Bumrah lauds Akash Deep

India’s bowling sensation Jasprit Bumrah heaped praise on his pace partner Akash Deep, explaining how the Bengal bowler has a “lot of heart”, which is signs of positive things to come in the near future.

While Bumrah stamped his mark of excellence with a 6-wicket match haul during India’s memorable 7-wicket win at Kanpur, Akash Deep’s probing line and length made life difficult for the Bangladesh batters. 

Speaking about the pair’s partnership out in the middle, Bumrah said, “He comes up to me quite a lot before a spell and asks me what is happening and what should I do, we have had a lot of interesting conversations. He gives his best on the field and when he's bowling, he has got a lot of heart and that is a good sign for us going forward. Hopefully he goes from strength to strength.”

India’s win coming after only 35 overs of play across the first three days of the Test made it all the more special, according to Bumrah, who had a special mention for the intent and aggression shown by the batters.

He said, “It is really good to get this win, we had lost a couple of days. The way we batted yesterday and it was a test for our fitness as well as you see how hot the weather is, bowling every day and trying to create an impact, a really special win. You use your experience but it is easier said than done, because you have played a lot of cricket and played on different surfaces you find solutions, this wicket was completely different to what we got in Chennai, so quickly communicated with the others and tried to find the best option.”
