He has a brilliant personality, character and charisma: Sanjay Bangar on Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan has been a commanding figure in the Indian ODI circuit for some time now and while the first Indian squad is in Australia to start the preparations for the T20 World Cup, the southpaw is leading the Indian contingent against South Africa in a 3-match ODI series.

He has driven the Indian team firmly and the kind of form that he has been in the midst of, makes him a priceless asset to the ranks of the Men in Blue. Despite such wonderful numbers adorning the bedecked career of Dhawan, RCB Head coach Sanjay Bangar had reasons to believe that somehow the Indian opener is pretty underrated.

Talking about Shikhar Dhawan, Bangar said, “A couple of things, obviously he hasn't got the accolades that he deserves as an ODI cricketer. If you think of great left-handers who have played for the country, you think of Sourav Ganguly at the top, Gautam Gambhir and who next? The kind of consistency that he has in this format is absolutely phenomenal.”

Bangar didn’t hold back his praise about the hard-hitting Indian opener, as he said, “He is somebody who is a very happy-go-lucky guy. He doesn't really regret a lot of things that have happened in the past. That's his mindset, that's his outlook toward life. He values what he has in his hands. He has got ODI cricket in his hands. All these things, put together, he has a brilliant personality, character and charisma.”
