Harshal Patel will be eyeing to break yet another record when the Royal Challengers Bangalore take the field against Rajasthan Royals tonight at the Dubai International Stadium.

He needs one wicket to become the RCB bowler with the most wickets in a single IPL season. As things stand now, he is tied with Yuzvendra Chahal and Vinay Kumar, who had picked up 23 wickets each in IPL 2015 and 2013 respectively.

Thanks to a spell-binding hat-trick against Mumbai Indians, the 30-year-old has extended his lead at the top of the purple cap race, picking 23 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 13.57. He has proved to be the trump card for Virat Kohli, providing vital breakthroughs for the team in crunch situations. With a lot more variations in his armoury, he has developed a knack for picking wickets at a fair clip.

Prior to the season, he was informed that he would be entrusted with the duty to bowl in the death overs, a phase where even the lethal bowlers lose their footings sometimes. The management's clarification of his role has greatly aided him in performing with clarity of thought throughout the season.

The bowling all-rounder, who has been a revelation for RCB this season, will be keen to continue his good run of form.
