Glenn Maxwell to return to international cricket in the ODI series against India
In a reprieving end to all the speculations for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Glenn Maxwell will return to the highest level of the sport before the IPL season. As Australia announced their team for the upcoming 3 ODIs, the Big Show was announced to be a part of the side alongside the big names of Mitchell Marsh and Jhye Richardson.
All the three aforementioned names will be hitting the yards, recovering from injury blows and are a part of the 16-man squad that will be taking on India in order to make amends for what is going to be a crackerjack of an ODI series. The series starts from March 17th and will continue till the 22nd that will play a crucial role in prepping both the sides for the World Cup that follows suit later in the year.
Glenn Maxwell had a serious blow after suffering a leg-fracture that was the aftermath of a freak incident.
Mitchell Marsh had challenges with his ankle that had him go under the knife and now he is back on his feet as he raged his way through the Sheffield Shield to have a clear idea about his current fitness standards. Right-arm fast bowler Jhye Richardson had an issue with his hamstring and will be back in action for the first time since their last white-ball tour of Sri Lanka in 2022.
Australian selection chief, George Bailey said, “Glenn, Mitchell and Jhye are all important players in what we think the squad might look like come October. With the World Cup just over seven months away, these matches in India are an important step in our preparation."
He also provided a crucial update on RCB ace quick, Josh Hazlewood, stating, “It would be great for Josh to be part of this series but we have taken a conservative view ahead of a very important winter in England of which he will be an integral part.”
