From Faf du Plessis to Mohammed Siraj: Top 3 performers for RCB against LSG
It was a thunderous display from the RCB batsmen that set the tone perfectly at the Chinnaswamy Stadium last night, but at the end, after a dramatic turnaround and some last-over thrills that also featured a wicket, a couple of missed run-out opportunities and a frenetic finish, the clash against LSG ended on a disappointing note for the home team.
However, despite the loss, there were a string of brilliant displays that provided unmatched entertainment and stood out for RCB. Here are the top three displays for RCB against the Lucknow Super Giants.
1. Faf du Plessis – 79* (46)
The RCB captain took his own sweet time to get off the leash but once the shots started coming forth, there was no relent whatsoever for the visitors. From Amit Mishra to Jaydev Unadkat, they all felt the wrath of Faf’s blade as he rocked and rolled his way through the bowling on offer from LSG. He would eventually stay unbeaten for a breezy 79, an innings that featured 5 fours and 5 sixes at a staggering strike rate of 171.74.
2. Virat Kohli – 61 (44)
The former RCB skipper was in effusive touch against the Lucknow Super Giants and continued to call the shots in his own clinical fashion, hammering the bowlers out of the park frequently. He lit up the powerplay with his own brand of aggression that also saw him taking on Mark Wood, one of LSG’s primary weapons with the ball. He was also a crucial part of the 96-run stand that RCB put up for the first wicket and helped them set the perfect platform for a grandstand finish.
3. Mohammed Siraj – 3/22 (4)
In a match where the bowlers were being steamrolled by the batsmen with 425 runs scored off 40 overs, Siraj was on a full-fledged display as he rocked the top-order of LSG with an impeccable spell and came back later to bag the massive wicket of an all-firing Nicholas Pooran that allowed RCB to map a comeback in the game. He would start his exploits with the huge scalp of Kyle Mayers following which he returned to bag the fish, KL Rahul. However, his most important wicket of the day was that of Pooran, who had no intentions of relenting whatsoever and had he been in the centre, there was a chance that the match would have ended well before the last ball.
