Former cricketers laud Axar’s Ahmedabad show
Axar Patel’s debut was delayed by a match due to a knee injury. But when the tall lanky spinner finally made it in the second Test, he looked like he always belonged at the highest level.
Bagging a fifer in his debut Test, he signaled how he was not going to let India miss Ravindra Jadeja who comes from the same state.
Once again in the third Test, playing at world’s largest cricket stadium, Axar displayed his astute game reading abilities to run through the England batting line-up. He started the show with his first delivery of the match, trapping Jonny Bairstow in front before going on to add five more to the tally.
The performance was impressing enough for the former cricketers to heap praises on him.
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar tweeted
What an over from @akshar2026. Best one of the match so far.#INDvENG

While another former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar termed Axar as the find for India in the Test series.
“Just brilliant with accuracy, speed and his biggest weapon, that arm ball going straight on a turner.. Axar has been a real find for India in Tests. #PinkBallTest,” said Manjrekar.
Axar’s emergence in the series will definitely please the Indian management who have been looking for a back-up option for Ravindra Jadeja for a while
