Focus on big hitters as RCB take on Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad

Turbulences are scary, especially the first time they hit. But the experienced flyers focus on how they took off and how they are going to land eventually.

RCB had a smooth take-off before a minor turbulence hit them in the form of CSK. But the mood in the camp should be back to normal as the team reached Ahmedabad.

It’s the next morning after the loss that hurts the most, but the travel itinerary meant that the team spent the day packing and planning for the next stop, instead of overthinking what went wrong at the Wankhede.

The change in the venue is expected to bring a change in the mood too. In any case, a solitary loss never has the intensity to force a side into pressing the panic button.

Virat Kohli’s men have been the team to beat this season, closing some tight games with precision. Against Delhi, they are set to face a stern test at a new venue. However, they will take respite from the fact that even Delhi are coming into the game after spending most of their previous day in travelling.

Both sides will be without a few key players, as Ravichandran Ashwin decided to pull out of the tournament while two Aussies – Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa – have left the RCB camp to fly back.

Ahmedabad saw a few high scoring games during the India vs England series and the focus will on the big hitters from both sides. On paper, RCB look like a dominant side and the way their bowlers have handled the death overs this season gives them the edge over DC. The form of Kagiso Rabada has been a concern for them. The South African has not been able to replicate his performance from last year and DC seem a little skeptical in showing faith in him. Case in point, they decided to go with Axar Patel over him in the Super Over against SRH.

RCB are coming off a loss which would have helped them identify the gaps. That it has come on early in the tournament is a positive Virat Kohli’s men will like to take into the game.

During normal times, the venue at Ahmedabad could be overwhelming for the players but an empty stadium may now be an eerie experience.
