Faf du Plessis to Glenn Maxwell: Top 3 batsmen for RCB in IPL 2023
23 May, 2023 By Editor

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL 2023 season ended in heartbreak at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on 21st May with a loss against the defending champions Gujarat Titans that knocked Faf du Plessis’ men out of the tournament.

Despite crashing out of the tournament, RCB’s latest season was marked by a string of phenomenal displays as skipper Faf led the way with the bat, Virat Kohli smashed two centuries among his many other top innings and Glenn Maxwell was at his devastating best. As the season came to a close for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, here are the top three batters for RCB in IPL 2023.

Faf du Plessis – 730 runs

The RCB captain lit up the tournament with his extraordinary brand of aggression right from the get-go, and he was instrumental in bringing about impressive starts for the team along with Virat Kohli. From 14 matches, Faf smashed eight half-centuries, underlining his dominance right through the tournament and the South African finished with 730 runs from 14 matches, at a terrific average of 56.15 and a strike rate of 153.68. Faf’s best performance came against the Punjab Kings at Mohali, where he scored 84 off 56 balls to star in RCB’s thrilling win.

Virat Kohli – 639 runs

Faf du Plessis’ partner in crime, Virat Kohli was back in swashbuckling form, clobbering the bowlers to the ropes at will. Kohli was exceptional with the blade and carved out six half-centuries, but the standout feature of the former RCB skipper’s season was the two back-to-back tons that grabbed the headlines. After slamming his first century since 2019 in Hyderabad, Kohli mesmerized the Bengaluru crowd at the Chinnaswamy and scored an important century against the Gujarat Titans to finish his season with 639 runs at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.82.

Glenn Maxwell – 400 runs

When Maxwell gets into the groove, there’s very little that can be done to stop him and IPL 2023 was a season in which we got to see a destructive version of the Australian superstar. Coming into the season almost fully recovered from a horrific injury, Maxwell was in dashing flow, entertaining crowds with his range of big-hitting. The RCB star smashed 400 runs at a superb strike rate of 183.48 that came with 29 fours and 31 sixes and was also instrumental in helping the team out of troubled waters, for instance, his 76 vs CSK and 77 vs RR in the Green game.
