Everybody is coming up and showing up with good performances – Harmanpreet Kaur

Team India secured a comfortable win against Pakistan in Dubai, concluding their group stages in the ACC Women’s Asia Cup with three wins out of three games. Indian captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, joined forces with Deepti Sharma after early hiccups to help India across the finish line.

Talking at the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet Kaur opened up on the special feeling of winning the clash against Pakistan. Kaur also shed light on the incredible bowling performance of the Indian team while reflecting on the unbeaten run en route to the semi-finals.

Explaining the salience of the game, Kaur said, “Very important game for us, and really happy (with) the way the entire team performed today, because we talk about being ruthless, and I'm really happy (with) the way we performed.”

Reflecting on the domination of the Indian bowlers, Kaur added, “All the bowlers, they were outstanding. They are sticking to their plans and bowling according to their plans and reading the pitch really well. I think that is the key, understanding the pitch and then executing your plans accordingly.”

She also shed light on coming back after losing three early wickets, stating, “I think it's part of the game. They also bowled a few good balls, and I think the important (thing) was just being there, just keep batting and finish the game as soon as possible.”

Underlining the importance of the unbeaten run to the semis, Harman added, “It's very important, keeping our standards high. We know what this team brings when we go to the field, and I think I'm really happy (with) the way everybody is coming up and showing up good performances, and now another two games, hopefully we'll keep playing our best cricket.”

She concluded by talking about leading the Indian side as the captain of the team for the 150th time, stating, “I'm grateful. I never thought I'll come that far, but all the people behind me who's been supporting, I'm really grateful, and hopefully keep getting the support, because I think without support I'm nothing. And yeah, I'm grateful, and the entire team, support staff, they've been outstanding. So yeah, I mean many more to come hopefully. Let's keep continuing the good work.”
