Even after two losses we can turn it around quickly: Smriti Mandhana after defeat against MI
RCB’s start to the maiden edition of the campaign has been a rocky one as the bowlers are still to reach their full potential with just three wickets to show from two WPL 2023 games. Yet again, a few batters got starts but didn’t convert them into big scores, with RCB putting up only 155 on the board that was chased down in just 14.2 overs by MI.
However, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana expressed satisfaction that the runs were coming off the bat but the team will need to come up with a better show after getting a start.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Mandhana said, “We would have loved to put up a better performance. We were below par. Will come back harder. There were two-three batters getting 20-30 runs, a few batters including me couldn't put up a good score. We will sit and talk and try to come up with a better performance.”
She also spoke about looking into the future and showered praise on RCB’s promising youngsters, saying, “We had six to seven good bowlers. As batters, we need to put up a good total on board. It's a pretty short tournament, we can't dwell on it. In franchise cricket, even after two losses, we can turn it around quickly. Lots of positives in Kanika and Shreyanka. Really positive to see the way they performed, happy with the way they batted.”
RCB return to action in the same venue for their third game of the WPL 2023 season, when they take on the Gujarat Giants on March 8th, starting at 7.30 PM.
