Donning the national cap is probably one of the biggest laurels of honour that an athlete can have, and when you become the most capped player in the history of the T20 World Cup, you know that you have definitely forged a legacy that enviable that leaves you in the same plane as with the other greats of the sport which makes your nation believe in you to deliver at the biggest stage of all.

An illustrious name in the women’s circuit, an experienced campaigner who will be turning up for RCB Women in the inaugural edition of the WPL, Ellyse Perry racked up the herculean feat of becoming the player with the highest number of appearances in the history of T20 World Cup as she played her 40th match against South Africa at the St. George’s Park in Gqeberha on the 18th of February.

She was impressive with the ball in her hand, conceding only 8 runs from her 2 overs and also claiming a crucial wicket that saw Australia restricting the hosts for a paltry 124, allowing the reckoning Aussie batters to chase down the total with 21 balls to spare.

The Australian all-rounder surpassed Rohit Sharma who leads the list in the men’s circuit with 39 appearances for India in the antiquity of the T20 World Cup. A feat that places Perry and Rohit on the same podium is that both have been shining monikers of the game and have participated in all three formats.

Perry has been shattering records emphatically in the ongoing T20 World Cup as she also became the first Australian cricketer to score over 1500 runs and claim more than 100 wickets. She has just got a single opportunity to bat in the tournament and as things stand, she managed a pretty decent 40 on the board.
