Don't break the COVID-19 protocols: BCCI notifies IPL teams
21 Aug, 2020 By Editor

There has been a sudden surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the United Arab Emirates. While teams have already begun to arrive in the gulf country, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has strictly warned the IPL teams against lowering their guard.

Speaking to IANS, the BCCI official confirmed that the members of the franchises have been strictly instructed to adhere to the Standard Operating Operating Procedures(SOPs) put in place by the board. "Strict instructions have been given to all the players, coaching staff, owners and other members. We don't want that because of someone's mistake, others get infected and suffer," the official was quoted as saying to IANS.

Earlier this week, Dream11 bagged the title sponsorship rights of the Indian Premier League. The two-month-long cricketing extravaganza is all set to commence from September 19th with the final scheduled on November 10.

With regard to the security mechanisms employed by the UAE Government, the official said: "UAE will provide all the help needed regarding the safety of players (medical or other). The teams' owners have also been asked not to roam here and there freely because coronavirus cases are no less in that nation. After so many delays, the IPL is going to happen and everybody will have to respect it and be more responsible."
