Dinesh Karthik gives his take on the Chahal vs Ashwin debate

Team India will have some serious contemplation to do when they look back at 2022 with their Asia Cup and T20 World Cup campaign falling apart ahead of the grand finale despite having a strong side at their behest.

With the Indian bowlers struggling to manage a scalp in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup, there were a lot of questions around why Chahal wasn't in the line-up. Echoing the sentiments of the masses, RCB’s wicket-keeper, Dinesh Karthik issued an important statement, citing that the former RCB leggie’s inclusion in the Indian squad could have actually worked wonders, even though it is a move that would have needed further deliberations.

Talking on Cricbuzz about this entire debate, Karthik said, “These are all calls that are taken by the captain and coach with the belief they had in a certain player. To be fair, Ashwin started the tournament well but probably didn't end well. But Chahal would've definitely made a lot more damage, it could've been an interesting choice. But hindsight is a very interesting thing to look at once the results come out.”

He further added, “All in all, if we look at the overall picture of the World Cup and Asia Cup, we expect a lot of better from Team India and that's the right way to put it.”
