Devdutt has got all the goods to play for India: Brad Hogg
One of the most striking aspects of the Indian Premier League is its potential to offer an avenue for youngsters to display their talents on a big stage. Former Australian spinner, Brad Hogg, is blown away with the temperament and maturity displayed by RCB opener, Devdutt Padikkal.
"It's his first IPL and he has made three fifties. In the second game, he really got tested by Cottrell with that short ball into the ribs. But I have seen him play a couple of pull shots against quality quick bowling after that. This kid has got the goods to play for India," Brad Hogg said on his YouTube channel.
In young Devdutt, RCB have found a batsman who could demoralise the bowlers with his hard-hitting skills. The southpaw has thus far scored 178 runs, striking at over 130. His efforts also include three half-centuries across five innings. Hogg, who has played 21 games in IPL, was impressed by the fact that the 20-year-old went back to the drawing board in order to work on his shortcomings after the second game. His ability to grasp things quickly has made the cricketing fraternity sit up and take notice. Foreseeing his abilities, Brad Hogg believes that Devdutt Padikkal is fully equipped to play for India in the future.
"The third game, he pulled Bumrah with the short ball to the body. That showed me that he is a quick thinker. He learns quickly. And that is probably the best batting performance that I have seen," he added.
