David Warner interprets the resemblance between him and Virat Kohli
In an exclusive chat with Harsha Bhogle on Cricbuzz, David Warner pointed out the resemblances between him and Virat Kohli - shedding light on their get-go attitude and proving people wrong on the field.
"I can't speak for Virat, obviously, but it's almost like we got this thing in us when we go out we need to prove people wrong, prove someone wrong."
The Australian opener also accentuated his passion for the game and appetite to do well at the highest level - drawing parallels to Virat Kohli's characteristics.
"If you're in that contest, and if I'm going at him for example, you're thinking, Alright, I'm going to score more runs than him, I'm going to take a quick single on him." - Warner added.
From Sachin Tendulkar's sandstorm innings at Sharjah to Rohit Sharma's double hundred, there has been a glut of memories equated to the India-Australia rivalry. With Cricket being a game of inches, Warner emphasized the significance of small battles in the match that could eventually decide the final outcome.
"Obviously you want to win the game but you almost break it down to, If I can score more runs than Virat, or if Pujara scores more runs than Steve Smith, you have these little contests and that's how you try to narrow the game in the sense that if we do these little things, we can be ahead of the game or we can be behind the game." - Warner quoted as saying.
However, In October, India is embarking on a long away fixture, beginning with the T20 tri-series, T20 World Cup followed by a four-match Test series against Australia. With the travel implications being imposed in Australia, there is a huge amount of uncertainty looming around the future of the Australian series and the T20 World Cup.
