Australia have announced an 18-member squad for the Sydney Test, adding opener David Warner to the team. Joe Burns, who has not had a decent run in the series, was dropped from the side.

Warner, who suffered a groin injury during the limited-overs' series, has now recovered and is expected to be match fit by 7th January when the game kicks off in Sydney.

Opener Will Pucovski and all-rounder Sean Abbott have also been added to the squad.

Earlier, Cricket Australia confirmed that Sydney will host the third Test of the series as per the actual schedule. With Sydney reporting fresh cases of COVID-19 in the last few days, there were speculations that the match might shifted to Melbourne which hosted the second match.

On the other hand, India will also feel emboldened with the inclusion of Rohit Sharma into the side. Sharma, who arrived in Australia a couple of weeks back has served his mandatory quarantine and will be available for the third Test match.

Australia Squad for 3rd Test: Tim Paine (captain), Pat Cummins, Sean Abbott, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Marcus Harris, Travis Head, Moises Henriques, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Michael Neser, James Pattinson, Will Pucovski, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Wade, David Warner
