Confident India chase 9th consecutive T20 win, series against hosts Australia

Team India will be looking to seal the T20I series when they take on Australia in the second T20 on Sunday. The eleven that took the field for India, or should we say 12, may have done the job on the day, but Australia will not be mere pushovers. While CaptaIn Kohli’s men have tasted success in both the games in Canberra, the action now shifts to the other venue in the bubble - Sydney, where the team racked up 2 L’s in the ODI series.

Team India fought back from the depths of despair on multiple occasions in the first game. While with the bat it was a hamstrung Ravindra Jadeja who propelled the team to a competitive score, the controversial concussion sub, Yuzvendra Chahal who dragged the team back into the game when the Aussies were looking like they would scamper home in a canter. While India will be encouraged by the form of KL Rahul who opened the batting for the first time on the tour, they will be hoping to avoid a collapse which almost saw the team putting up 28/4 in the overs between 11 and 17.

Australia failed to achieve the final thrust to propel themselves over the line, with the game in the balance going into the last 5 overs. The lack of firepower lower down the order will be a headache Justin Langer and co will be keen to address. The fitness of Captain Aaron Finch will also be giving the Aussies sleepless nights, even more so in the absence of David Warner.

There might be a few changes here and there for India, considering the team kicks off its longest version leg of the tour down under with a practice game, just a short drive away in the city. Chasing a 9th consecutive win in the T20I format, Virat Kohli’s India will be wise not to allow the Kangaroos a sniff back in the series. The SCG may not have been kind to the Indians in the ODIs, but the team having won 2 out of 2, will be riding high on confidence, and will be pumped up to wrap up the series on the 6th.
