It has been more than a decade now that Virat Kohli is winning matches for India and during this long reign of the run-machine, he has earned countless titles from his fans and experts, which have all been born out of the sheer love and admiration for the former India skipper. Out of all the titles that have been bestowed upon the King, ‘chasemaster’ is quite a prominent one.

Virat has been sensational in India’s remarkable chases, irrespective of its stature, the number of runs required or the conditions. He has scored profoundly and somehow his knack of playing under the cosh makes him a perfect fit for those challenging run-chases.

As India started their World Cup campaign with a stunning victory over Australia, Virat Kohli played another instrumental knock of 85 to steer India to safety after an early wobble. Things could have been bleak if Mitchell Marsh would have latched onto a sitter early on, however, once he got the wheels in motion, from thereon, it was all about admiring the run-machine go onto auto-firing mode and leave Australia wincing in agony.

During the run-chase, Virat etched another record to his name as he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become India’s most proficient run-chase expert in international cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar, during his playing days, had hammered 5490 runs from 124 innings in India’s successful run-chases. Virat leapfrogged the Indian cricket legend as at the end of his 85-run knock, he finished with 5517 runs from 92 innings at a staggering average of 88.98, making him the highest run-scorer for India in their successful chases over the years.

Virat Kohli will be returning to action on 11th of October as India will square off against Afghanistan for their second match of World Cup, with the game set to be played in Delhi.
