Bumrah is the best bowler I have ever seen live – Darren Lehmann
Jasprit Bumrah continues to be impressive for Team India in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, leading the wicket-taking charts with 30 to his name across four Tests - 10 adrift of second-placed Pat Cummins.
His unstoppable bowling performances have drawn praise from corners of the world and the latest addition to that list was that of former Australian all-rounder, Darren Lehmann. Talking to PTI, Lehmann asserted the fact that Bumrah has ascended himself to the level of Wasim Akram and Glenn McGrath and should be the right contender to take over the Indian captaincy when Sharma steps down.
Lehmann said, “I presume he (Bumrah) is the next captain when Rohit finishes. He did a really good job in Perth. He is the best bowler I have ever seen live. I have seen Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath and all but I have not seen a bowler have impact like him in a single series like Jasprit Bumrah has since Mitchell Johnson in 2013-14 Ashes win.”
He further added, “This is very similar as Bumrah already has 30 wickets. He has been outstanding to watch. He will do well when he gets a chance to lead India."
It is going to be interesting to see if Jasprit Bumrah is going to be a part of the Sydney Test, particularly after Rohit Sharma has hinted at his workload earlier. However, with a Test remaining in the series and India desperate to level the fray, Bumrah’s presence is going to be of massive importance to Team India.
