With Virat Kohli at the helm, India's red-ball dominance has been a talking point in recent times, primarily due to the remarkable bowling performance of the pace bowling annex. The likes of Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Umesh Yadav have been at the forefront of India's ascendancy in Test cricket.

Former India's strength and conditioning coach, Shankar Basu played a key role in the discovery of Mohammed Shami's fitter and healthier side, which he acknowledged as his greatest accomplishment during his tenure with the team. Shami has been India's leading pace bowler with 133 wickets over the last four years.

Ishant Sharma is the most prolific Indian pacer in SENA countries, with a total of 121 wickets in Test cricket.

In a show hosted by India women's coach WV Raman, Bharat Arun articulated that workload management is the reason behind India's pace bowling success in red-ball cricket. The 57-year-old further added that the data analysis provided by the GPS tracker enables coaches to identify the intricacies of each bowler and mitigate the risk of injury, which in turn effectively addresses the workload of the individual.

“When we talk about workload management, we are looking at the number of overs a bowler has bowled. But then a bowler can over-exert himself in a game and that is not under your control. So we use the GPS tracker to monitor all his movements on the field," Bharat Arun was quoted as saying to WV Raman.

"For example, a bowler runs around 20 km on the field. And the tracker gives us a lot of data and information about the bowler concerned. By analysing those data, you can manage the workload at training sessions. Basically, you need to find the right balance. And the Indian bowlers have managed to do that so far. This is the reason why we are successful as a bowling unit and the bowlers can bowl at 140 kmph regularly,” Arun further added.
