Team India has found itself in the middle of a mounting injury crisis as quite a handful of their star players are currently sidelined. With the 2023 World Cup looming on the horizon, the BCCI made some crucial decisions to manage the workload of the players and to also try to reduce the number of injuries.

The BCCI met in Mumbai to have a review and forge a roadmap for India heading to the World Cup and with more than a decade of wait building, the Men in Blue will be hellbent to turn the tide around.

The meeting was attended by BCCI president Mr. Roger Binny, Honorary secretary Mr. Jay Shah, Indian Captain Rohit Sharma, Indian Head coach Rahul Dravid, NCA Cricket head VVS Laxman and Chairman of Men’s Selection Committee Mr. Chetan Sharma.

There were three key recommendations made in the meeting and the BCCI issued a notice, highlighting all three of them. The pointers as per the notice included:

The emerging players will have to play a substantial domestic season to be eligible for selection to the national team.

The Yo-Yo Test and Dexa scan will now be part of selection criteria and implemented in the customized roadmaps of the central pool of players.

Keeping in mind the Men’s FTP and preparations for ICC CWC 2023, the NCA will work in tandem with the IPL Franchises to monitor the targeted Indian players participating in the IPL 2023.
