Indian captain, Rohit Sharma had to be rushed to the hospital after copping an injury while fielding in the second ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. A lot of speculation has surrounded Rohit’s injury and as India find themselves in a muddle chasing a mammoth score in the second ODI, it is still a matter of uncertainty as to whether Rohit will eventually walk out to bat or not.

BCCI said in a statement, “India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He has now gone for scans.”

Indian fans would be hoping that their skipper is not seriously hurt because as far as the preliminary angles displayed, he had a cut near the webbing that can be quite painful in context of sporting injuries, especially for batters.

The entire incident unravelled in the fourth ball of the second over when Mohammed Siraj managed to prise out an edge from the bat of Anamul Bijoy Haque with the ball hitting Rohit Sharma’s webbing and bouncing out. It started bleeding instantly and the medics were forced to take a call in taking him to the hospital right away.

Ever since Rohit walked out, KL Rahul took over the captaincy and India is currently struggling to keep their boat afloat in precarious waters, especially after Bangladesh steered from an almost ineluctable situation to a momentous total while the Indians are yet to find a way out of the early troubles that the Bangladeshi bowlers have left them in the midst of.
