The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the name of former India pacer Chetan Sharma as the chairman of selection committee.

Cricket Advisory Committee comprising Madan Lal, Rudra Pratap Singh and Sulakshana Naik had recommended the name of Sharma for the role. Former pacer Abey Kuruvilla and Debasis Mohanty will also join the senior selection panel.

CAC had interviewed 11 shortlisted candidates virtually before finalizing the names.

The new three members will replace outgoing Sarandeep Singh, Jatin Paranjape and Devang Gandhi. The tenures of the outgoing members ended in September. Former cricketers Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh are the other two members of the senior selection panel.

The next assignment of the committee will be to pick the team for the home series against England, starting in February.
