RCB all-rounder Washington Sundar, who recently received an injection on his bowling finger, will require more time to recover than what the Indian team management had expected. The media release also gave an update on pacer Avesh Khan who suffered a blow to his thumb during the warm-up game in Durham.

"All-rounder Washington Sundar had taken an injection on his right-hand bowling finger. However, his recovery will take longer than expected and he is not bowling-fit. He is ruled out of the remainder of the tour," the media release stated.

"Fast bowler Avesh Khan suffered a blow to his left thumb on Day 1 of the warm-up game. He was taken for an X-Ray and the result confirmed a fracture. A specialist was consulted for further management of his injury. He is ruled out of India’s Tour of England."

The Chetan Sharma-led All-India Senior Selection Committee has announced Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav as the replacements. The two batsmen are currently a part of the limited-overs squad that is playing white-ball series in Sri Lanka.

After coming into contact with a COVID positive individual, bowling coach Bharat Arun, wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, and opener Abhimanyu Easwaran completed their self-isolation and have joined the rest of the team ahead of preparations for the Test series.

Abhimanyu Easwaran, who was selected as a backup opener, has now been added to the main squad as a replacement for Shubman Gill, who returned to India after being ruled out due to injury.

"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav as replacements," said BCCI in a release.

Updated India squad for England Tests: Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (Captain), Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), R. Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohd. Shami, Md. Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul, Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prithvi Shaw, and Suryakumar Yadav.
