BCCI announces India squad for Asia Cup 2023; Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer return
KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer finally returned to the Indian fold as BCCI announced the squad for the Asia Cup 2023. Rahul and Iyer return to the squad having spent quite some time recovering from their respective injuries.
Tilak Varma's inclusion grabbed the headlines as well, with the southpaw having earned his maiden call-up to the Indian ODI team for the continental extravaganza after impressing heavily against West Indies while also putting up a stunning display in the IPL.
After an assuring display against Ireland in the first two T20Is, Bumrah will also be returning to the Indian ODI squad which would be a massive boost for the Indian bowling line-up that has already been impressive with the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami putting up impressive shifts.
The tournament begins on August 30th which will witness Pakistan hosting Nepal in Multan while India’s first group game will be against their arch-rivals, Pakistan, in Pallekele on September 2nd. This will be followed by a match against Nepal on September 4th which will witness a conclusion to the Group A games. Group B features the likes of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka clubbed together.
