BCCI announce India-W squad for upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka
Teenagers G Kamalini and Vaishnavi Sharma earned their maiden call-ups to the Indian cricket team as BCCI announced the Indian women's cricket squad for the five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. Smriti Mandhana was named Harmanpreet Kaur's deputy, with Richa Ghosh and Arundhati Reddy the other two Royal Challengers picked in the squad.
However, there were major changes made to the side as well, with Radha Yadav, Yastika Bhatia and Sayali Satghare left out.
Kamalini secured her call-up to the national team after an impressive WPL 2025, where she displayed her hard-hitting abilities which came after a superb show in the 2024 U-19 Asia Cup. Vaishnavi Sharma, who is just 19 years old, claimed the most number of wickets in the Senior Women’s T20, registering 21 wickets from just 11 games for Madhya Pradesh. She was equally brilliant in the Senior Women's Inter-Zonal T20s, chronicling 12 scalps from just five games for the Central Zone. She was India’s leading wicket-taker in the U-19 World Cup which was conducted earlier this year with 17 wickets.
The first two T20Is of the five-match series will be happening in Visakhapatnam on December 21st and 23rd respectively. The last three games of the series will be played on December 26th, 28th and 30th in Thiruvananthapuram.
