From being a part of the set-up as a net bowler and making his debut at the Gabba, it has been a remarkable turn of events for the 21-year-old. He started in a commendable way, bowling three consecutive maiden overs on the trot. Just after lunch, the spinner bowled a flighted delivery enticing Smith to whip it straight to the short midwicket fielder. Claiming the wicket of the in-form Steve Smith in his debut match - It couldn't have been a better start to his Test career.
One could see the joy and happiness in his face. Hours of hard work had finally paid dividends, the seeds of which were sown in the practice nets in his backyard at a very young age.
What a way to announce yourself on the big stage! Washi gets off the mark in Test cricket with the big wicket of Steve Smith! ??????#PlayBold #AUSvIND #TeamIndia pic.twitter.com/3S9DjJ9Hwp
