As a cricketing world we are always one big family: Dinesh Karthik talks about his love for the sport from his early days
One of the most people in the RCB setup is none other than Dinesh Karthik, who is known for his trait of being the quintessential team man, on and off the field. From hammering the Bangladesh bowlers for 22 runs in an over in the Nidahas Trophy final to pulling off some stunning knocks in RCB colours, Dinesh Karthik has become a household name in Namma Bengaluru.
On the latest episode of RCB Podcast Season 2, Dinesh Karthik opened up at length on questions about the outpour of love from fans, taking up wicket-keeping and more.
When asked about what it feels like to be cheered for in such a raucous manner in the stadium, DK said, “You play sports for many reasons. One of the main reasons is mainly to get love and affection from all the people who are watching you play, the fans of the sport, the young kids. You get that and you feel very happy. It is a very special feeling. Every musician, every artist and whoever craves that feeling, is very grateful for and something that they should be grateful for.”
Karthik was then quizzed about a particular moment that made him realise that cricket was his calling, to which the RCB star responded, “There wasn’t any particular moment for me. I always wanted to do this.”
He continued, “There was never a Plan B. Plan B was to do Plan A well. I wanted to deliver consistently. As I said, my goal was always to be a world champion. And I always believed that when you are good, nobody can stop you. These were the two lifelines that I always kept myself working on. Playing this sport, being a part of this sport was never a doubt and never in question.”
DK concluded by saying, “I love the sport, I love the whole cricketing journey, I love all the people who are associated with it, in many ways they are all connected with the sport and it is for many reasons. As a cricketing world we are always one big family.”
