RCB’s IPL 2024 campaign got off to a slightly rocky start as they went down fighting against the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings in the season opener. However, despite the defeat, there were a few displays that certainly deserved the plaudits.

Whether it was Faf’s rambunctious start or Cameron Green’s brace, RCB tried to garner as much momentum as they could, ahead of the final hurdle. Here are the top three performers for RCB against CSK in the tournament opener.

Anuj Rawat – 48 (25)

When RCB lost all hope with half of their side back in the hut for 78, Anuj Rawat breathed back life in the dugout. Blasting 48 off 25 while knitting a crucial 95-run stand with Dinesh Karthik, Rawat ensured that RCB had something to defend. The southpaw smashed four fours and three humongous sixes to lead the charge for the Royal Challengers.

Dinesh Karthik – 38* (26)

The Finisher Supreme seemed in good touch for his short residence in the center. He scored a well-orchestrated 38, playing a handful of neat-looking shots while also ensuring the fact that his partnership with Anuj Rawat kept RCB well and truly in the path to putting up a fighting total on the board. He eventually finished with a brilliant 38, hammering three fours and two sixes before being subbed out for Yash Dayal.

Faf du Plessis – 35 (23)

The RCB skipper got off to a brilliant start, vindicating his decision on opting to bat first after winning the toss. Faf scored boundaries at will and put early pressure on CSK, with a knock that saw him score eight fours for a total of 35 runs.
