Amazing to share chess board with a world-class player – Venkatesh Iyer reflects on meeting with Javokhir Sindarov

RCB’s Bar and Café saw two stalwarts from absolutely different paths of life come together in an electric rendezvous. RCB’s super power-hitter, Venkatesh Iyer, met FYERS American Gambits’ team member, Uzbek Grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov as cricket and chess came together at the RCB Bar and Café.

Talking about the meet, Venkatesh Iyer said, “It was a great event. Obviously, the opportunity to understand what goes on behind the scenes in chess, to pick their minds on their approach and their attitude towards the sport was truly mesmerising. On the outset, it looks pretty simple, but there are hours of hard work that go behind this craft. And I was really inspired by them.”

Iyer also shared his take on chess, adding, “I think it teaches you patience and resilience and how to be proactive, how to think ahead. These are just a few things that this game teaches. There's so much inside the game. I think it was amazing to share the chess board with a world-class player and understand that this is not a simple game by any means.”
