Always been enjoyable – Devdutt Padikkal on his batting chemistry with KL Rahul
Devdutt Padikkal and KL Rahul were instrumental forces with the bat for India in the Galle Test, as the two joined forces to add 150 runs for the second wicket in the first innings, while adding 65 runs for the second wicket in the second innings.
Talking in the presser after the end of the fourth day’s play, Padikkal opened up about his chemistry with KL Rahul and how it dates all the way back to their Karnataka days together.
Padikkal said, “Batting with KL has always been enjoyable. I think I have played quite a few innings with him now, even with Karnataka as well. We have had some long partnerships, and I think we play well with each other.”
He further added, “He understands the way I bat, the tempo in which I bat, and I do the same as well. When you have that kind of chemistry, I think it helps in stitching that partnership and really pushing the limits of how far we can go."
He also revealed how his conversations with former Indian captain, Rahul Dravid, have helped him to tweak his game over the years for the better.
DDP concluded by talking about his conversations with Rahul Dravid, stating, “Dravid has always been a great support. I made my debut under him, and he has always been open to having a chat whenever I needed to. I think everyone, for that matter - all the senior players around are really helpful in terms of being open to having those conversations."
