Abhimanyu Easwaran looking to improve as a player on England tour
Every time an Indian squad for a foreign tour is announced, there are a few names that generate curiosity. One such name this time around is Abhimanyu Easwaran. Abhimanyu has been named as one of the four standby players in the squad which will travel to England. Given how cricket has moved to bio-bubble arrangements, reserve players stand a good chance to learn from the best from close proximity.
Abhimanyu has been a seasoned campaigner in the domestic circuit, who regularly features in India A side. Abhimanyu, who was among the reserves during the England series too, said that he had the fortunes of observing the Indian players from close and wants to make the most of his time travelling with the team to UK.
“We had only heard about it. We got to know how Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Cheteshwar Pujara practice. They are very specific. They just do what they would be doing in the match. And when you actually see them do the same thing the next day, it feels great.
"If I can improve as a player in that tour, that will be good. And if I get an opportunity, I will make the most of it," said Easwaran.
During India’s tour of Australia, net bowlers could get a chance to feature in the final XI and impressed with their performances. While bio-bubble arrangements have taken a toll on the regular players, one bright side that it has offered is how reserve players are getting to rub shoulders with the best within the bubble.
India take on New Zealand in the WTC final in Southampton on June 18. The Test series against England will kick off on August 4 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
