Virat Kohli will be a key figure in the Indian cricket team as they take to the yard in the Asia Cup 2023 and they will be kick-starting their campaign against Pakistan, in a much-anticipated rivalry.

In a Q&A session conducted on his YouTube channel, RCB Hall of Famer AB de Villiers was asked about who he predicts could be the highest run-scorer in the Asia Cup and World Cup, the former South African star picked Kohli and Pakistan’s Babar Azam.

De Villiers said, “Virat absolutely loves 50-over cricket. He will pull up his stats some time and will realize that this is indeed the best that is around right now. No one will come close to him either. Babar Azam, Kane Williamson, well they may be big names and from South Africa, Heinrich Klaasen can come close and maybe Aiden Markram too.”

He continued, “With all said and done, let’s first see if Markram can get some form ahead of the World Cup in the upcoming series against Australia. However, it is difficult to say. My favourite for the Asia Cup has to be Virat and Babar. They can both score runs and are in great form. They can absolutely batter down the bowlers.”
