A shot in the arm for RCB as ABD, Morris, and Steyn join the squad in Dubai
The three South African members of the Royal Challengers Bangalore arrived in Dubai early morning on Saturday. AB de Villiers, Chris Morris, and Dale Steyn’s arrival also put to rest all speculations about South African players’ participation in the league. With the travel restrictions in place in South Africa, there were concerns over their participation in the league.
The players reached straight to the hotel from the airport, where they will quarantine for a week just like their Indian counterparts. Crowd favourite ABD on arrival said, “I’m very excited, very happy to be here. Travelling was a bit different to normal but we’ve made it here with my South African friends and we’re very happy to be back in the RCB family, and looking forward to my COVID Test.”
While Morris who has joined the RCB for INR 10 crores this season said that it is going to be very challenging to get going given the long break. “It’s been quite a while that we’ve played the game that we love. So yeah very challenging but we’re very excited to get going, a little bit nervous too to be honest.”
Fast bowler Dale Steyn’s concerns were not much different. However, Steyn appeared concerned about the heat that Dubai will throw at the pacers. “It’s going to be interesting to play in the heat. We got here like 3 in the morning and it was steaming outside. Looking forward to what’s it going to be like in a few weeks,” he said.
Earlier the entire Indian contingent of the team had flown in on Friday noon to the city for the 13thedition of the Indian Premier League which begins on the 19th of September.
