A few of our guys are quite passionate: Josh Hazlewood opens up on a famous win for RCB against LSG in IPL 2023

It was a memorable encounter between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Lucknow Super Giants in the latter’s den where runs were hard to come by and the RCB bowlers produced a nail-biting finish in a low-scoring thriller. RCB secured the bragging rights of the game as they trumped LSG by 18 runs, adding two more points to their tally.

Batting first, RCB could post just 126/9 from their 20 overs, thanks to a motivated showdown from captain Faf du Plessis, who himself scored a 40-ball 44 while Virat Kohli’s 31 also played a major hand in the team putting up a challenging total.

What seemed like a total perhaps 20 runs short at the innings break proved to be a bridge too far to cross for LSG, as a clinical bowling performance from the RCB bowlers headlined by Josh Hazlewood (2/15) and Karn (2/20) dealt the home team an 18-run loss.

After a sumptuous victory against LSG, Josh Hazlewood exuded happiness in his words and shed some light on his thoughts on the win. Talking on his return in the post-match conference, Josh Hazlewood said, “It has been a long while. Excited more than nervous. It is great to be back here, in front of some good fans. The bowlers really turned up and finished off really well at the end.”

He would conclude by sharing his thoughts on the wicket and how RCB managed to brave it, adding, “The wicket was quite slow. The spinners played a huge part for both teams. A few more (runs) would have been nice (smiles). It was super loud for both teams. A few of our guys are quite passionate so it gets the crowd up.”
