12,000 T20 runs & more: Virat Kohli’s upcoming milestones ahead of the 3rd T20I
As India gear up for the T20I series finale against Afghanistan at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Virat Kohli stands at the cusp of a few personal milestones. Virat returned to the T20I fold for the first time post the 2022 T20 World Cup in the second match of the three-match series against Afghanistan, and he rocked the show with a 16-ball 29 laced with five fours.
While India eye a clean sweep of the Afghans, Virat stands a chance of becoming the leading run-scorer in T20Is at the Chinnaswamy. He is currently 24 runs away from snatching the record that is held by his RCB teammate, Glenn Maxwell.
Maxi leads the scoring charts with 139 runs from just two games, including a magical ton. Virat currently has 116 runs from five matches that features a well-orchestrated half-century.
Not only is Virat close to this milestone, but he is just six runs away from 12,000 runs in T20 cricket and will be the only Indian batter to rack up this feat. He is also the fourth highest run-getter in T20s with Chris Gayle (14562), Shoaib Malik (12993) and Kieron Pollard (12430) ahead of him.
