Moeen Ali named vice-captain for the Ireland series
On Tuesday, the England and Wales Cricket Board [ECB] appointed Moeen Ali as vice-captain of the England team for the upcoming series against Ireland, starting on 30 July.
Since his debut, Moeen Ali has formed the fulcrum of England's line-up with his impressive returns. The 33-year-old has amassed 4849 runs and registered 282 wickets across all the formats.
Earlier this month, the English selectors named a 24-member squad with an intention to provide players ample time to prepare for the series. The bio-secure bubble that is already being implemented in the Test series, is facilitated in order to comply with the health protocols.

The 33-year-old batsman's 45-ball stay at the crease was laced with 7 boundaries and 6 towering sixes. Jonny Bairstow's 88-ball 127 was instrumental in laying the ideal platform for the incoming batters to capitalize on the brisk start.
Riding on the valiant contributions from Ali and Bairstow, 'Team Moeen' posted a commanding 325 runs in their full quota of 40 overs. In reply to the chase, the Morgan-led side never looked at ease in pursuit of the mountainous total.
The second intra-squad game is scheduled on Friday, and the following team for the ODI fixtures will be announced later this week.
