Starboy Devdutt Padikkal impresses against New Zealand-A with resplendent 199 in Lincoln
Devdutt Padikkal continued his rich vein of form, conjuring an unbelievable knock in the second innings of the unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A to defy the latter’s momentum in Lincoln after India were bundled out for 113 in the first innings.
Walking in to bat after two quick wickets fell, Padikkal took on the challenge head on and hit 199, falling agonizingly short of a remarkable double-hundred. Thanks to Padikkal and B Sai Sudharsan, the duo steadied the ship for India A as the latter scored 91. Padikkal’s 199 fuelled India’s scoring ambitions while Yash Rathod (66) and Washington Sundar (51*) kept India’s wheels in motion. India-A concluded Day 3 with a lead of 284 runs and their innings stationed at 488/8.
