In the modern world of T20 cricket, batters have been making ripples all across the world. From going heavy right from the word ‘go’ to steadying the ship if needed and then switching gears at will, batters are expected to perform similarly in WPL 2027. Before the war of paddles begin in Kochi, here is a glance at the top five batters to watch out for in the auction.

· Sophia Dunkley

The 28-year-old experienced English batter, Sophia Dunkley will be commanding quite a few paddles in the upcoming WPL auction. Dunkley has played a lot of cricket across the globe and is deemed as one of the specialist batters in the shortest format of the game. With 1463 runs scored at a strike rate of 123.35 in WT20Is, Dunkley becomes one of the most formidable names on the list. Dunkley’s bedecked tally also includes a half-century in the WPL.

· Vrinda Dinesh

The young Karnataka batter, Vrinda Dinesh got off to a phenomenal start in her career. Despite dwindling returns in recent times, Dinesh can be a significant force at the top of the innings. The last two games where she was involved in India A vs Australia A saw her scoring 69 and 34, underlining her ability to perform against giants of women’s cricket.

· Babette de Leede

The Netherlands captain, Babette de Leede boasts of incredible batting numbers with her tally reading 1800 WT20I runs at an average of 22.50. De Leede has smacked nine half-centuries in her international career in the shortest format of the game. Her experience and leadership can always make her stand out amongst the flurry of batters registered on the auction list.

· Kiran Navgire

The experienced power-hitter, Kiran Navgire has shown already that whenever the situation comes calling, she is capable of smashing the ball into all corners of the park. With 435 runs scored at a strike rate of 134.67 in the WPL, Navgire’s ability to conjure significant knocks in the middle-order makes her a valuable player to be a part of the WPL auction.

· Disha Kasat

The former RCB batter and also the Vidarbha skipper in the domestic circuit has been savouring some great form in recent times. Tactically solid and an exceptional anchor in the middle-over, Kasat brings a lot of experience to the side. Someone who has evolved over the last couple of years, will be coming to the latest edition of the WPL auction with more experience and understanding.
