Playing aggressive cricket is important – Sitanshu Kotak on India's approach with the bat
India will face off against the Netherlands in their last group stage fixture of the T20 World Cup 2026. With questions looming about the lineup for the clash, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak made it crystal clear that changes are not on the horizon and the mindset will remain the same, especially regarding Abhishek Sharma's form and its impact on the team structure.
Talking at the pre-match press conference ahead of India’s contest against the Netherlands, Kotak said, “I think playing aggressive cricket is important. But I don't think plans change based on whether a player has failed or not. If anything, plans will change according to situations. No matter whether somebody has scored runs for two innings or somebody hasn't, it's important to adapt to what the team needs.”
However, Kotak also highlighted that changing his stance if the situation and conditions demand it is a different matter. Kotak stated, “Like the Mumbai game where Surya had to stay there for a while, and he had to go at run-a-ball more or less for 30-35 balls - that's playing to the situation. Whether someone scores runs or not is not important, what the team requires at a time and players trying to execute that is more important."
