“Great feeling” - Harmanpreet Kaur expresses delight at India-W’s massive win over UAE

Team India racked up their second win in the Women’s Asia Cup as they ran roughshod over UAE with a flamboyant all-round performance to register a 78-run win. Richa Ghosh and Harmanpreet Kaur were the key architects of this win while early blows from the bowlers left UAE crippled.

Talking at the post-match conference, Kaur underlined how the conditions were and how the match panned out in India’s favour. She emphasized the importance of those key partnerships between her, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh.

Talking about her partnership with Jemimah, Kaur said, “Great feeling. When Jemi and I were batting, we spoke that we had to run hard rather than just going for risky shots. Our focus was on getting 7-8 runs per over.”

She then shifted her focus to Richa Ghosh, adding, “When Richa came, I just told her to keep watching the ball and see how the wicket is playing. She batted beautifully. My role was just to stay on the pitch and keep rotating strike. Whenever loose balls come, convert them to the boundary. Credit to Richa. Because of her we reached the target.”

She concluded by saying, “Special innings for me (anniversary of her knock against Australia). Great memory overall whenever we talk women's cricket in India. It always gives me positive vibes.”
