As Team India toppled UAE in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup, there was a flurry of records being toppled, thanks to a tempestuous half-century from Richa Ghosh while Harmanpreet Kaur carved another special knock which had sparks flying in its tail end.

With the second win in the bag, India is now just another victory away from making it to the next round while the other teams in the group will have to battle for life to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Here’s a quick rundown of the feats racked up by Team India collectively and individually in their win against UAE.

·      India’s total of 201/5 is the highest-ever total in the history of Women’s Asia Cup. They shattered their own feat of 181/4 which came against Malaysia in 2022.

·      India’s 201 is their first-ever 200-plus total in the shortest format of the game. The previous best was 198/4 in the 2018 triangular series which was hosted in Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium.

·      Richa Ghosh’s strike rate of 220.68 is the highest ever by an Indian woman in women’s T20Is with at least fifty runs scored in an innings. She leapfrogged Smriti Mandhana’s strike rate of 204 against Sri Lanka in the 2022 Asia Cup final.

·      Richa’s 26-ball-fifty is the second fastest half-century in the history of Women’s Asia Cup. The quickest was racked up by none other than the queen, Smriti Mandhana when she smashed a 25-ball-fifty against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2022 finale.

·      Harmanpreet Kaur reached the feat of 3415 runs which now made her the second-highest run getter in the shortest format of the game, leapfrogging Meg Lanning’s 3405. Suzie Bates holds the ace with 4348 runs.

·      Ghosh’s 64* is the highest by an Indian wicket-keeper in women’s T20Is. Sulakshana Naik’s 59 against Sri Lanka in 2010 is the only other fifty scored by an Indian wicket-keeper in the shortest format of the game.

·      Ghosh and Kaur’s partnership of 75 runs is the highest stand for the fifth or any lower wicket in Women’s Asia Cup. This is also India’s second highest fifth wicket stand in women’s T20Is, the first being between Mithali Raj and Anuja Patil against Sri Lanka as the duo piled up 77 runs.

·      Harmanpreet Kaur’s 66 is the highest score by a captain in the history of Women’s Asia Cup, bettering the likes of Bismah Maroof’s 62 against Malaysia in 2018.

·      Ghosh’s 64* is the highest by a wicket-keeper in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup, leapfrogging Nigar Sultana’s 53 against Malaysia in 2022.
