10,000 runs, 80 sixes: List of all records toppled by India in a massive win over Sri Lanka

As India outmuscled Sri Lanka in the fourth T20I, thanks to a superlative batting display featuring a handful of stormy knocks from Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh, quite a significant number of records were broken by the hosts.

India went 4-0 up in the ongoing T20I series and will be eyeing a resounding finish to complete a clean sweep of the visitors. Here’s a quick glance at the feats registered by Team India in Trivandrum.

·      India-W registered their highest-ever total in WT20Is with the score of 221, surpassing their earlier record of 217 which came against West Indies in Navi Mumbai. This was also the fourth time that India-W breached the 200 mark in T20Is.

·      A total aggregate of 412 runs was scored in the game which became the third-highest number of runs scored in a T20I.  Argentina and Chile were involved in a 490-run T20I in 2023 while West Indies and Australia’s T20I clash in 2023 produced 425 runs.

·      The 162-run opening stand between Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma was the highest for India for any wicket in T20Is. They broke their own record of 143 runs which came against West Indies in Gros Islet in 2019.

·      Smriti Mandhana entered an elite posse of players by crossing the 10,000 runs barrier. She joined the likes of Mithali Raj, Suzie Bates and Charlotte Edwards who have formerly achieved this feat.

·      Mandhana completed the herculean task of scoring 10,000 international runs in just 280 innings, edging past Mithali Raj by 11 innings to the magical feat.

·      India smashed eight sixes in the innings which was the joint-second-most for them in a T20I innings. The only time they smacked higher was nine sixes against Australia in 2022.

·      Richa Ghosh’s 40* off 16 balls saw her scoring at a rate of 250 which is the second-highest strike for an Indian batter in a T20I innings who has played at least 10 balls. Ghosh holds the highest record as well when she blasted 54 off just 21 balls against West Indies in 2024.

·      Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma have amassed 3107 runs batting together in T20Is. They are the first-ever pair to cross the magical 3000 partnership run-mark. They also command the most number of fifty-run stands with 24 half-century partnerships amongst them.

·      Mandhana racked up 1,703 runs in 2025, which is the highest score by any batter in women’s cricket in any calendar year. She leapfrogged her own record of 1659 runs in 2024.

·      Smriti enhanced her six-hitting tally to 80 sixes which took her beyond Harmanpreet Kaur who boasts of 78 sixes in the T20I format. She now has the highest sixes in T20Is by an Indian, fourth place overall behind Deandra Dottin (129), Sophie Devine (114) and Chamari Athapaththu (95).
