Watch – Rohit Sharma turns reporter and engages in conversation with Ajinkya Rahane before rain plays spoilsport
As India gear up for the first Test against West Indies, one of their key figures in the batting unit in the absence of Shreyas Iyer and Cheteshwar Pujara would be Ajinkya Rahane, the man who proved his mettle in the extreme conditions of England where he braved the Australian bowling unit emphatically in both the innings of the World Test Championship final.
In a video shared by BCCI on Twitter, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Rahane were seen engaging in a conversation during the latter’s media duties. Rohit was seen bursting into peels of laughter after Rahane answered a question where he claimed that he was “still young”. However, following the banter, things did fall into perspective as Jinks had so much to talk about, particularly about his mindset.
As Rohit turned into a reporter, asking Rahane about his advice for the youngsters in the team, the stylish right-hander said, “In West Indies, youngster or anyone else, you really need to have patience as a batter.”

Rohit later referred to the “chilled atmosphere” in West Indies and asked Rahane about how cricketers should focus on the job at hand, before enjoying themselves in the country.
Rahane said, “Whichever country you come to it’s important to go with how people are there. It’s important to focus on what happens on the ground.”
Just as Rahane was answering the question, the rain started pelting down, forcing the Indian cricket team duo and the bystanders to rush for shelter. Both Rohit and Rahane will have crucial roles to play as India take on West Indies in the first of two Test matches at Dominica, beginning on July 12.
