Ellyse Perry has become a household name when it comes to women’s cricket and she has been defining the game for a while now. On the latest episode of the RCB Bold Diaries, the Aussie all-rounder opened up on how she started playing cricket and what followed thereafter as she chose to delve deep into her passion.

Ellyse said, “I have got another elder brother who is three years elder than me and his name is Damien. When we were kids, I used to just follow him around. Whatever he was doing, I just wanted to do that. I looked up to him very much and I remember, Dad taught him how to bowl one night in the kitchen at home. I was like, oh, I want to learn that too.”

She continued, “That extended like us going into the backyard and dad just showing us how to do that sort of whole movement to bowl a cricket ball and then I just kept on practicing. I also went to the local nets near where we lived and picked up a bat and tried that as well. I think ever since then, my Dad has been my cricket coach.”

Ellyse further added, “I have played in lots of different teams and have had lots of different coaches along the way who have taught me heaps but I think my dad has been that one constant person that I’ve always had helping me out and able to talk to him about a game and go down to the nets when I am home.”

The Australian all-rounder stated further, “My brother comes down and bowls still and yeah it has been a very special part of my journey, just to have someone like that to share it all with. I’m incredibly indebted to Dad and Mum for their support and the incredible world that they have helped me to see.”
