Now I am having a lot of fun – Mohammed Siraj on his display against Prime Minister XI
Mohammed Siraj has had his fair share of ups and downs in recent times. His form at home was a major question mark which made the Indian fans fret. However, Siraj looked in great rhythm against the Prime Minister XI as he registered figures of 7-1-18-1 at Canberra, playing a part in India's win.
Talking in an interview after the game, Mohammed Siraj said, “I could feel that I wasn't enjoying my bowling. As a person I am someone who gets a different feeling when I'm enjoying my bowling, even if I'm not getting wickets. And now when I wasn't getting wickets, I went a bit deep into why I wasn't getting them. In India you know that spinners bowl most of the overs, so it's a little tough to get wickets in [the] five-six overs [you get as a fast bowler]. So I just became a bit upset about why I wasn't getting wickets. But now I am having a lot of fun."
He also revealed the fact that he has had a chat with Bharat Arun, India’s former bowling coach and T Dilip, India’s fielding coach, stating, “I spoke with Bharat Arun sir, that this is what's happening with me. Because he has known me for a while and he has seen my bowling from a long time back. So he just told me to enjoy and not run after wickets. Just enjoy and you'll get wickets. And before travelling, I met [fielding coach] Dilip sir in Hyderabad and we practiced together as well. So it felt good and now I'm enjoying.”
Siraj will possibly be back in action when India takes on Australia in the day-night affair at Adelaide, starting from 6th December. With a slender 1-0 lead in the series, the hosts will be hopeful of leaving another impressive mark against the mighty Aussies to bolster their claim on a third consecutive WTC final berth.
